REGISTRATION ISSUES

Gender Identity Policy

Until now, the participation of athletes who had undergone sex reassignment had not been possible at large international sporting events sanctioned by sport federations. However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will now admit such individuals using a procedure that will be applied during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

The new rules will be applied within sporting community as a whole. Montréal 2006 would like to ensure that individuals who have undergone sex reassignment and wish to register for sporting activities receive the information they need and are evaluated by competent authorities on the subject.

Please click here for more information on our Gender Identity Policy.
