1) Athlete
/ Disabled Athlete (Sport) |
Athletes
and Disabled Athletes pay the full registration
fee applicable, according to the date
of registration, and receive the full
benefits of registration described below.
Participants with specific
needs or disabilities will be included
wherever possible in most sports and cultural
activities. Sports with separate disability
categories include Rowing, Basketball,
Dancesport, Powerlifting and Tennis. Please
read our Specific
Needs and Disabilities Policy for
more information. |
2) Performer
(Culture) |
Performers
(e.g. artists, musicians, dancers) pay
the full registration fee applicable,
according to the date of registration,
and receive the full benefits of registration
described below.
Participants with specific
needs or disabilities will be included
wherever possible in most cultural activities.

3) Non-playing
(Sport): Certified Coach / Manager / Technical
Support |
Participants
in Non-Playing roles pay the full registration
fee applicable, according to the date
of registration, and receive the full
benefits of registration described below.
This category is for
non-playing Certified Coaches / Managers
/ Technical Support who want to receive
the same benefits as the rest of their
team. All team sports (e.g. Softball)
may take advantage of this. Non-participating
Certified Coach / Manager / Technical
Support will not be included in the team
member count. |
4) Non-performing
(Culture): Artistic Director / Coordinator
/ Technical Support |
Participants
in Non-Performing roles pay the full registration
fee applicable according to the date of
registration, and receive the full benefits
of registration described below.
This category is for
non-performing Artistic Directors / Coordinators
/ Technical Support who want to receive
the same benefits as the rest of their
group. Non-performing Artistic Directors
/ Coordinators / Technical Support will
not be included in the performer count. |
5) Participant
Supporter |
A
Participant Supporter is a friend / family
member / partner of a participant. Participant
Supporters pay the full registration fee
applicable according to the date of registration,
and receive the full benefits of registration
described below
This category is for
non-participating Participant Supporters
who want to receive the same benefits
as a participant.
Each Participant Supporter
must be associated with a registered participant.
ONLY ONE PARTICIPANT SUPPORTER PER REGISTERED
PARTICIPANT WILL BE PERMITTED.
Participant Supporters
will have limited access to their registered
Participant's playing grounds and/or cultural
activity sites, according to rules set
by the Sport Manager of each sport or
Cultural Coordinator of each event.
When registering, the
Participant Supporter must provide the
name of their participant to ascertain
with which registered Participant they
are associated.
The registered Participant
must validate the Participant Supporter's
registration before the Participant Supporter's
registration is considered final.
The 1st World
Outgames Montréal 2006 Organising Committee
reserves th e right to limit the number
of Participant Supporters permitted to
register.
Participant Supporters
are not eligible to register as Participants
also. One may register as a Participant
OR a Participant Supporter but not both. |
The Athlete
/ Disabled Athlete (Sport), Performer (Culture),

7) Accredited
Media |
We
welcome the media and expect about 600
registered media organisations to be part
of this event. We offer many benefits
for accredited media. There will be a
media and information centre that will
have information about when and where
particular teams are playing or artists
are performing. You will get easy access
to results as well as access to competition
areas and a range of ticketed events.
You will also get access to computers
and the internet to send your stories
back home.
Media registration
began on 5 January 2005.
NOTE:
The Organising Committee reserves the
right to validate the credentials of individuals
who wish to register as Accredited Media.
The Accredited
Media is intitled to:
- Access to all Sport,
Cultural and Conference venues in media-designated
areas
- Access to official
Press Room and Lounge at Palais des
congrès
- Access to all official
1st World
Outgames Montréal 2006 press conferences
- Access to press-dedicated
computers and internet lines set up
in the Press Room

8) Official
(referee, umpire, judge) |
Qualified Officials do not
pay registration fees. The 1st World
Outgames Montréal 2006 will have many
officials volunteering for the games.
This category is for qualified referees,
timekeepers, umpires, judges and so on
who will be a very important part of the
Outgames.
While most officials will
be sourced locally in Québec and other
provinces in Canada, we welcome the participation
of suitably qualified officials from overseas.
Please express your interest
by registering to act as or become an
official for the games and you will be
contacted with further information.
NOTE: The Organising
Committee reserves the right to validate
the credentials of individuals who wish
to register as Officials. |

Volunteer |
Volunteering
gives expression to the Outgames' values
of Participation and Celebration, Respect
and Fairness, Innovation, Diversity and
Empowerment (PRIDE). It is also a great
way to meet people, support the event
and be a part of the world's greatest
celebration of gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender pride.
Volunteers do not pay registration
fees. All volunteers will be contacted
as their nominated roles are being filled.
We aim to have all volunteer roles allocated
by the end of May 2006 with the job matching
process starting.

10) Local
Host |
Local
Hosts are Montréal-area residents who
offer a room or rooms in their home free
of charge to registered Outgames participants.
More information on the Local Host programme

Club Montréal 2006 Member (Expression of
Interest - EOI) |
A Club Montréal
2006 member is an individual requesting
information by email or a future participant
which has not completed and paid its online
registration. |

Gender Identity Policy
Until now, the participation
of athletes who had undergone sex reassignment
had not been possible at large international sporting
events sanctioned by sport federations. However,
the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will
now admit such individuals using a procedure that
will be applied during the 2004 Olympic Games
in Athens.
The new rules will be applied
within sporting community as a whole. Montréal
2006 would like to ensure that individuals who
have undergone sex reassignment and wish to register
for sporting activities receive the information
they need and are evaluated by competent authorities
on the subject.

Anti-Doping
Policy
The 1st World
Outgames Montréal 2006 condemns doping practices
and the use of banned substances to enhance performance
in sport. Doping practices and the use of banned
performance-enhancing substances are contrary
to fair play, are potentially harmful to the health
of athletes and in some cases, the use of such
substances is illegal.
Participants registering for
the 1st World
Outgames agree to abide by the rules and regulations
as determined by the governing bodies for the
1st World
Outgames sports in which they are registered.
In the registration process and at accreditation
time for the Montréal games, athletes agree to,
and sign a set of Terms & Conditions for participating
in the games. These cover the athlete's role and
responsibilities as participants at 1st World
Outgames.

Specific Needs and
Disabilities Policies
The purpose of this policy is
to serve as a guide for Montréal 2006 to ensure
that people with specific needs and disabilities
are included in all areas of the preparation and
staging of sporting and cultural events. Participants
with disabilities will be included wherever possible
in most sports and cultural activities. Sports
with separate disability categories include Rowing,
Basketball, Dancesport, Powerlifting and Tennis.
Participants may have one or
more of the following conditions:
. Intellectual disability
. Hearing and/or vision impairment
. HIV/AIDS
. Medical condition
. Mental illness
. Neurological disorder/brain injury
. Physical disability
People with specific needs may
require special assistance and/or support to able
to fully participate. It should be noted that
some individuals who fall into the specific needs
and/or disability categories listed above may
not need any particular assistance and/or support.
Participants may choose whether or not to disclose
their specific need or disability.

a) Individual Sports
Individual sports requiring only one individual's
registration information.
b) Individual Sports with
Partners or Small teams
Individual sports for Partners or Small Teams
requiring registration information for an individual and a partner (e.g. for doubles) or a team
- a dance partner in dancing, a doubles partner
in badminton, a 4 person team for bowling, 3 person
team for triathlon, a six person team for aerobic
teams etc.
c) Team Sports
Requires a team captain/coordinator to set up
the team.

a) Cultural activities
Open to Individuals
Cultural activities open to individuals requiring
only one individual's registration information.
b) Cultural activities
Open to Couples
Cultural activities open to couples requiring
registration information for an individual and
their partner (e.g. a dance partner in dancing).
c) Cultural activities
Open to Groups
Cultural activities requiring a coordinator to
set up the group.

Individuals must be 18 years of age or older as
of 29 July 2006 to register.

The 1st World
Outgames Montréal 2006 will be providing full
and part Bursaries to participants from our Outreach
communities, as described in our Outreach Programme.
Applications will be available in early 2005.
