GLISA: Gay
and Lesbian International Sport Association
GLISA is an international gay and lesbian sport association.
The focus of GLISA is developing gay and lesbian
sport worldwide. GLISA does this through sanctioning
world and continental games, creating a global
calendar of GLBT sport events, fostering the creation
of new GLBT federations, clubs and teams, supporting
existing GLBT sport organizations, working in
partnership with other sport organization to pursue
this mandate, and providing the financial framework
to support GLISA's global efforts.
GLISA sanctioned Rendez-Vous
Montréal 2006 for its 1st World Outgames in 2006.
VISION
The vision describes where GLISA would like to
be in ten years.
GLISA is an inclusive, globally
recognized, integrated, gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgendered association that celebrates,
supports and promotes our culture through sport.
MISSION
This describes why GLISA exists and who GLISA
serves.
GLISA is a membership-based,
democratic, international association of gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgendered sports organizations
from around the world. GLISA's purpose is to ensure
a safe place for GLBT athletes to play sports.
GLISA do this by providing quality services to
our members, nurturing the growth of the GLBT
sports movement, and promoting participation in
GLBT sports events.
AREAS OF ACTIVITY

carry out GLISA's mission and achieve its vision.
- In partnership with member
associations and host cities, GLISA facilitates
the delivery of games and championships;
- GLISA provides a competition
calendar as a tool for the global GLBT sport
community to promote its events;

associations, teams and clubs through the sharing
of knowledge and expertise;
- GLISA promotes and provide
membership services, leadership development
and best practices;
- Through outreach, promotion
and networking GLISA increases the awareness
and visibility of GLBT sports worldwide;

with GLBT organizations, cultural organizations,
mainstream sports organizations, and host communities
to further its activities;

of financial, administrative, professional and
technical support to ensure the success of its
activities and events.
