The 1st World Outgames endorses a healthy and fair approach to sports training and competition. Sport events in the 1st World Outgames are sanctioned by provincial, national, and in some cases, international sports governing bodies. In order to adhere to the rules of these sporting federations and to guarantee that the Outgames are run in a fair and just manner, GLISA and the Outgames have adopted the policy as set by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Consequently, all athletes competing in the 1st World Outgames must adhere to GLISA’s position on drugs in sport and may be required to undergo drug-testing. We encourage all participants to become familiar with this policy.
The objective of the 1st World Outgames in this regard is to provide an experience where all athletes are able to compete in a safe and welcoming environment, without discrimination of any kind. Our priority is to find the appropriate balance to ensure that no person, regardless of their birth gender, is disadvantaged in athletic competition and at the same time that no person participating in the Outgames experiences discrimination.
GLISA and the 1st World
Outgames have collaborated so as to develop a
policy that reflects this balance. We encourage
all participants, especially those who have identified
themselves as ‘transgender’ in the registration process, to become familiar with this policy.
There will be two divisions available to participants:
Open Division |
Mixed
or All-Male teams allowed |
Women's
Division |
All-Women's
team only |
Players may play for one
team per division, though only women will be
allowed to play in both divisions. « International » teams
will be organised in the women's division to
allow women in search of a team or playing in
the Open Division to compete in this division.
All teams must, regardless of division, must have a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 20 players. Only 15 of the players registered on a team may play in a given game and their names must be listed before the start of the game.
MontrÉal 2006 will only recognise
the registration of complete teams (teams comprised
of at least 7 players). However, if a participant
does not have a team to join, it will be possible
for them to be part of an « International » team
formed from the players on a waiting list or
they may be joined to an existing team. There
is no guarantie that a player will be assigned
a team.
All teams registered in the Open Division will play a minimum of 5 games during the tournament. The number of games play by teams registered in the Women's Division will depend on the number of teams playing in this division. No team will play more than 2 games per day in a given division.
Teams will be randomly seperated
into "pool " . The number of "pools" and
the number of teams per « pool » will
depend on the number of teams registered in each
division. The competition will consist of 2 rounds
of play. The first round will be a « Round
Robin » style play-off. The first round
will serve to establish the ranking of teams
for the second or fianl round, which will be
simple elimination.
Programme Events
A team must have a minimum of seven and a maximum of 20 members. Only 13 members can play per game and their names must be submitted and listed before the start of the game.
