Vision and Mission
Welcome  |  Vision and mission  |  Board of Directors  |  Permanent Staff  |   Of Course Montréal!

The 1st World Outgames Montréal 2006 Organizing Committee's vision is to orchestrate a magnificent gathering of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transvestites, transsexuals and heterosexuals celebrating together in North America's City of Festivals.

Montréal 2006 will demonstrate to the world that a truly civilized society respects all its members. Thus, the Games will benefit the interests of the entire international homosexual population, helping to advance the rights and freedoms of gays and lesbians everywhere and enhance their overall quality of life.

Ultimately, our vision is nothing short of capturing the hearts and minds of the world by presenting a show of human endurance, creativity and achievement that will serve as a legacy and source of inspiration for all the Games to come.

Specific goals
Montréal 2006 has developed a clear set of goals for the Games, including:

  • ensuring the event is organized by and for the local, national and international gay communities;
  • leaving a positive heritage for gays and lesbians here and abroad, in accordance with our vision and values;
  • reinforcing the athletic, cultural and communal expression of gays and lesbians;
  • guaranteeing the financial viability of the Games through organizational, political, and methodological means;
  • allowing all Montrealers to share in the success and the celebrations of the Games;
  • maintaining a spotlight on diversity;
  • reaching the objectives that we have agreed upon;
  • targeting traditionally underrepresented countries for outreach, with a specific focus on Central and South America;
  • striving for an equal representation of male and female participants at the Games;
  • providing full accessibility to the Games to all participants, regardless of age, physical or mental ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, sex, nationality, ethnic origin, political beliefs, athletic/artistic skills, or serological status;
  • creating an environment that enables participants to reach their own specific objectives;
  • implementing programmes to assist participants battling certain constraints (economic, political, etc.);
  • ensuring that the Games exhibit the highest standards of quality;
  • supplying world-class equipment and installations, as well as dynamic venues;
  • coordinating concurrent athletic and cultural activities to satisfy every taste;
  • securing comfortable, affordable accommodations and efficient transportation;
  • cultivating a festive yet safe and secure environment.
