The BBCM Foundation Announces
a Major Parterships With The 1st World Outgames
Montréal 2006
Montréal,
2 June 2005 – The BBCM Foundation,
one of the biggest event promoters in Montréal
and organizers of the world renowned Black &
Blue Festival, and the Organizing Committee of
the 1st World Outgames Montréal 2006, are
pleased to announce their partnership for the
organization of major official parties during
the week of activities taking place from 26 July
to 5 August 2006, in several Montréal venues.
These parties will also benefit Montréal
2006 and the LGBT athletes taking part in the
Games.
The BBCM Foundation is a non profit
organization which, in the past fifteen years,
has been organizing several events with a major
tourist impact for the Montréal region,
such as the BLACK & BLUE FESTIVAL taking place
each year in October. The quality of these events
have contributed to the international reputation
of Montréal. The BBCM team, which specializes
in major high calibre multimedia events, will
use its expertise to produce top
quality happenings during the Montréal
2006 Outgames, for the local and international
clientele present in Montréal for the Outgames.
The BBCM is proud to associate itself to the First
World Outgames, an event not-to-be-missed for
the whole community, and will do all that is possible
to present activities that will please the various
participants, making sure that everyone enjoys
their stay and and experience in our city. The
BBCM
will thus work in close collaboration with the
Montréal 2006 team, as well as with several
artists and volunteers, in order to ensure the
complete success of these special events. The
BBCM Foundation (also known as Bad Boy Club Montréal)
makes annual donations to organizations that provide
direct assistance to persons with HIV/AIDS and
to lesbian and gay community groups.
These donations total more than 1.25 million de
dollars to date. The economic spin-offs of the
BBCM Foundation's various events are valued at
50 million dollars annually and are major tourist
draws for the Québec tourism market.
The 1st World Outgames Montréal
2006 will be held from 26 July to 5 August 2006
and will bring together some 16,000 participants
from 100 countries, attracting 250,000 visitors
to the city. The programme will offer
thirty-five sports as well as four main cultural
activities: the Choral Festival, Country Western
Dance, Square Dance, and performances by Marching
Bands, Concert Bands, Colour Guards and Cheerleading
groups. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies at
the Olympic Stadium will be televised by Radio-Canada,
which will also provide daily one-hour broadcasts
of the day's highlights throughout the Outgames.
As well, an international conference on LGBT rights
will be held from 26 to 29 July 2006, just before
the opening of the sport and cultural activities.
Currently, more than 4,000 people have registered
for the Outgames, which bodes well for the level
of participation forecast by the organisers. Montréal
2006 has already held two major fundraising evenings
- La Nuit de Bronze in 2003 and La Nuit d'Argent
in 2004 and preparations are well underway for
the next "gold" edition, La Nuit d'Or,
planned for 1 September 2005. These fundraisers
are held to benefit the Outreach programme, which
assists LGBT athletes and teams with limited resources
or from disadvantaged countries to participate
in the Outgames. Other fundraising activities
will also be held regularly in collaboration with
three of the most popular bars in the Village,
Unity II, Sky and le Parking.
More detailed information on the
official "mega parties" that will be
organised by the BBCM Foundation and Montréal
2006 during the week of the Outgames in 2006 will
be available at the end of the summer of 2005.
Many different types of tickets and packages including
the parties will be offered by BBCM and Montréal
2006.
